Chinese Mavic Air drone review

Mavic Air – continued in the line of folding Chinese drones. The first Mavic Pro was presented in October 2016. The model received a 4K camera, a three-axis hanger, an obstacle flyby system, several pre-installed flight scenarios, a more pleasant design, and ideal physical dimensions. But first things first.

Design:

The new device lives up to its name with super clean air lines of the hull and smooth corners. The air is most reminiscent of an expensive supercar casting sunshine. Propellers do not fold, but stretch along the hull, which nevertheless does not affect the compactness in any way. On the front beams of the drone there are peculiar supports that not only raise the body above the surface, but also contain antennas.

Flight test:

Engineers managed to equip the drone with six sensors that prevent collisions, and make it much smaller than its predecessor. Two sensors are on the front of the drone, two – on the back, two more – on the bottom. All of them protect the device from collisions with obstacles. We did out test indoors and so two meters from the obstacle, drone begins to give threatening signals about a possible collision.

It may seem that due to its small size and weight (430 grams) it is quite difficult for the drone to remain stable under gusts, but out outdoor tests confirmed its stability.

Camera and shooting modes:

A 12-megapixel camera with a three-axis stabilizer capable of shooting at 4K resolution with 30 frames per second. With a resolution of 1080p, it is possible to record pictures in slow motion at a speed of 120 frames per second.

Thanks to Active Track technology, a drone can monitor and move around objects that the operator has selected on the smartphone screen. We tested this feature in many locations with different objects and the result was quite exciting.

Autonomy and equipment:

Flight time is quite difficult to calculate. It largely depends on the full charge of the battery and the weather outside the window. The manufacturer and states that a 100% battery with a capacity of 2375 mAh is enough for 21 minutes of flight. But our tests showed that the device is discharged to 5% in about 18 minutes.

So we recommend everyone from beginners to professionals this drone. Managing this little flying gadget will give you an amazing range of feelings.
